For all of us, members of the Oklahoma Registrars Association with the Oklahoma Museums Association. This is a place for us to share information. If you've been to a conference, tell us all about it. If you have a problem and are stuck, tell us about it. If you are recently graduated and need some advice or guidance, post it here.

Mid-Winter Meeting
This is a rehash of the email I sent out and the Document I posted on Facebook. Feel free to answer these questions by creating your own post on this blog to try it out. Include your name and facility but only if you feel comfortable doing so. My hope is that this will be a safe place where we can all feel comfortable having our discussions.
The next OMA event that may interest you will be February 27th 10-2 at the Oklahoma Territorial Museum in Guthrie Oklahoma. Be sure to sign up, we look forward to seeing you then. We will use the mid-winter meeting as a planning session for the rest of the year so come hang-out with us, enjoy some awesome food and tell us how we can help you.
Please respond to the following questions rather you intend to come to the meeting or not. I think we could help each other by getting familiar with each other collections. Feel free to email me or post the answers on facebook?
What type of artifacts do you have in your collection?
i.e., Homestead, pioneer, Territorial era, and early Oklahoma Statehood – Preference for items with documentation of being in Guthrie, Unassigned Lands or Oklahoma Territory and used or owned by a resident.
Are you actively collecting? Yes
In which area of your collections are you actively seeking and collecting?
i.e., Territorial era political memorabilia & Territorial or Homestead era African-American items. Logan County Plat Maps/Atlas
In which area are you gorged with like items?
i.e., Victorian-era sewing machines. I also have plenty books.
What do you do to make your patrons feel good about taking the time to inquire about donating even though you don’t want their stuff?

Lets give this a shot.
We've talked in the past about a listserv and some people don't like their emails to be listed in the recipients window on a email and not everybody is on Facebook or can access it from work. So I thought we'd give this a shot. You are in control of what information gets posted online. I have invited everybody who is a member of OKRA to be an author of the blog, which means you are free to post any content you feel would be relevant. I have kept the setting so that anyone can read it so other OMA members or students might be able to access the information. Please join and give it a try. If you have a concern about security of information etc. please email me and we can discuss it.
I was thinking that this could serve as our newsletter. We can communicate with those that couldn't make it to the most recent event and we can post summaries of what went on.
If someone goes to a conference or meeting and comes back with information, share it with us.
If you are looking for someone to help brainstorm with you.
If you are an emerging professional and need some guidance, post it here.
